Cold Weather Flintknapping

Cold Weather Flintknapping

Cold Weather Flintknapping.

In this flintknapping session I demonstrate flintknapping in temperatures between 5 degrees Fahrenheit to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. I reduce a small flake into a small Atlatl dart point to show how stone acts differently in temperatures below freezing. Stone when conducting any type of reduction will “stick” in certain ways and can be a little more difficulty to reduce. Pay attention to the sounds of the stone an the slower flake removal because of the temperatures.
